Articolo raro e difficile da trovare. Piccola statua dorata, pezzo unico proveniente da una collezione vintage, raffigurante il Buddha della Medicina. Prodotto artigianale proveniente dall’India, è in ottone e misura cm. 10 di altezza e 7 di base.
Il Buddha nella mano sinistra, adagiata in grembo nel dhyanimudra “Gesto della meditazione”, tiene una ciotola per i rimedi.
Famoso non solo per favorire la guarigione, si dice abbia capacità di neutralizzare il cattivo karma passato, di portare fortuna ai bisognosi e di aiutare sulla via dell’illuminazione.
In Tibet il Buddha della Medicina è venerato quale fonte delle arti curative, poichè è attraverso di lui che sono nati gli insegnamenti incarnati nei quattro Tantra Medici, il fondamento della medicina tibetana. Come spiegato nel primo dei quattro Tantra, una volta il Maestro guaritore dalla radiosità di lapislazzuli era seduto in meditazione, attorniato da quattro cerchi di discepoli tra cui medici divini, grandi saggi, dei non buddisti e Bbodhisattva, tutti desiderosi di apprendere le arti curative. Resi muti dalla gloria radiosa del suo aspetto, tuttavia, essi non erano in grado di richiedergli gli ammaestramenti desiderati. Come risposta ai loro desideri inespressi, il Buddha della Medicina manifestò due emanazioni, una per richiedere gli insegnamenti e l’altra per offrirli. Si dice che in questo modo abbiano avuto origine le spiegazioni buddiste delle diverse malattie mentali e fisiche, delle loro cause e della loro cura, insieme al mantenimento della salute.
