Description
Il Mala del Sangha è interamente realizzato a mano dai Monaci Zen con perle di legno sciolto in palissandro e robusto filo di cotone elastico.
Elemento distintivo, è parte fondamentale degli oggetti della pratica buddhista, e indossato nella quotidianità dà protezione e, se tenuto in mano sinistra (del cuore), aiuta a concentrarsi e a calmare la mente.
La meditazione ha un effetto benefico sul corpo, perchè aiuta a rallentare la respirazione e a favorire un equilibrio fisico e mentale.
Insieme al cuscino di meditazione Zafu, al tappetino Zabuton e ai rintocchi della Campana tibetana, che annunziano l’inizio della pratica, rappresenta uno degli oggetti principali per la meditazione.
Il Mala è anche uno dei principali oggetti che il praticante, nel corso di un percorso spirituale, riceve durante la “Presa di rifugio” presso il Sangha, la comunità dei praticanti.
I Mala bracciale dei Monaci Zen, proprio perché artigianali, non sono tutti uguali e possono variare nel colore del filo che unisce i grani di legno.
Il legno di palissandro
Il legno di palissandro è un legno molto pregiato spesso utilizzato in falegnameria per mobili di pregio, lavori di ebanisteria e strumenti musicali.
Ha una profumazione dolce molto caratteristica e da esso si estrae un olio essenziale dalle molteplici proprietà.
Il Monastero zen è una comunità residenziale laica e monastica femminile e maschile che segue la via dello zen nella sua pratica quotidiana.
E’ solitamente situato in una località di montagna ed è un eremo di pace e serenità, dove ritornare al proprio silenzio in armonia con i ritmi della natura.
In molti Eremi si svolgono ritiri zen intensivi e per principianti e si offre ospitalità a tutte le persone che vogliono trascorrere un periodo breve o lungo di silenzio e pratica meditativa.
Lo Zen è una scuola buddhista, originatasi in Cina dove era conosciuta sotto il nome di “chan”, termine che traduce il sanscrito dhyana, meditazione, a indicare l’identificazione stessa della scuola con la pratica che per eccellenza la caratterizza.
