Mala composto da 108 grani in legno realizzato dai Monaci Zen del Monastero di montagna. I Mala 108 del Sangha sono interamente realizzati a mano con perle di legno di rosa e filo di cotone elastico e possono essere indossati come collana oppure arrotolati intorno al polso per un effetto benefico sul corpo.
Utile per la concentrazione durante la meditazione, aiuta anche a rallentare la respirazione e a favorire un equilibrio fisico e mentale. Nella quotidianità dà protezione e, se tenuto nella mano sinistra (quella del cuore), aiuta a concentrarsi e a calmare la mente.
Dal punto di vista numerologico 108 significa che quando l’individuo (1) raggiunge lo stato di annullamento dell’ego (0), l’infinito (8) lo colma di energia e consapevolezza. Inoltre, la somma dei numeri fa 9 (così come per qualsiasi multiplo di 9): nove significa perfezione, compimento, maestria. Nel Mala la perla che chiude è di una dimensione maggiore delle altre.
Insieme al cuscino di meditazione Zafu, al tappetino Zabuton e ai rintocchi della Campana tibetana, che annunziano l’inizio della pratica, rappresenta uno degli oggetti principali per la meditazione.
Il Mala è anche uno dei principali oggetti che il praticante, nel corso di un percorso spirituale, riceve durante la “Presa di rifugio” presso il Sangha, la comunità dei praticanti.
I Mala dei Monaci Zen, proprio perché artigianali, non sono tutti uguali e possono variare nel colore del filo che unisce i grani di legno. Il colore, quindi, del cotone con cui vengono realizzati potrà variare a seconda della disponibilità.
